Who I am
I'm Radovan Vacek, the author of EU Digital Sovereignty and co-founder and CEO of insighti, a Czech cybersecurity firm specializing in penetration testing and ethical hacking. Based in Prague, I've worked at the intersection of business and technical security for over fifteen years. EU Digital Sovereignty merges my professional interest in security with my personal interest in geopolitics.
What this is
A working framework for thinking about technology sovereignty in Europe — specifically, the structural questions of dependency, alternatives, partnerships, contractual architecture, and the limits of regulatory leverage. It is intended for chief information officers, procurement leads, policy analysts, and anyone whose decisions in 2026 involve the geography and jurisdiction of digital infrastructure.
What this is not
It is not investigative journalism. Where the site refers to specific incidents — Chinese solar inverters, the CrowdStrike outage, the xz-utils backdoor — it links to the original reporting and does not attempt to reproduce or extend it.
It is not a vendor evaluation. Where European alternatives are mentioned by name — Mistral, IceWarp, Authentik, OVHcloud, and others — the discussion is framework-level and structural. There are no product reviews, no recommended-vendor lists, and no commercial relationships between this site and the vendors named.
It is not a forecast. Where the site discusses trajectories (regulatory, industrial, geopolitical), it does so in terms of what is already underway, not what might happen.
How this is maintained
The site is rebuilt with refreshed research on a quarterly cadence. Each release is tagged in source control and a snapshot of that release remains accessible at a permanent URL. Significant changes since the previous release are surfaced on the relevant pages and aggregated in the changelog.
The English version is the canonical source. Other language versions are machine-translated for the convenience of readers who prefer them; they are not curated by a human translator and may contain inaccuracies that the English version does not have.
